"Service Stripes Serviceman Sgt. Milton Halpern,"

Sgt. Milton Halpern was born in New York City and attended school there, moving to Shrub Oak about eight years ago, with his parents.

Sgt. Halpern worked in a drug store in Peekskill until he was inducted in the Army in June, 1941. He is with a Signal Battalion and was in training camps in the United States until September, 1943, when he was shipped overseas to the Pacific area.

He is now in the Philippines, and writes that it is a great change from where he has been previously. He has sent home some Japanese "occupation" money.

Sgt. Halpern is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Halpern of Union Avenue, Shrub Oak.
