Walter "Andy" Androsko: Yorktown resident

Walter "Andy" Androsko, a 50-year Yorktown resident and a lifetime Yorktown Grange member, died July 29 after a short illness at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt.

He was 81.

Mr. Androsko was born May 19, 1918 in Hartford, Connecticut to Peter Androsko and Nellie Bliznak Androsko.

He was educated at the University of Connecticut and received a Master's degree from Columbia University. He also attended Cornell University.

In June of 1943, he married Olga Radkovitch in Hartford, Connecticut. They were married 54 years.

Mr. Androsko worked as a Westchester County agricultural agent for 25 years. Prior to that he was a fruit, vegetable and soil conservation specialist for Dutchess County for five years. He also taught agriculture in western New York State.

Mr. Androsko was a lifetime Grange member; a member of the Metropolitan Golf Course Superintendent's Association; Bedford Farmers Club; and a member of the New York State Turk and Landscape Association.

He organized a local 4H Chapter and for many years was active on the BOCES Occupational Education General Advisory Council and Muscoot Farm Advisory Council.

Mr. Androsko will be remembered for gardening, boating, traveling, ice skating, and swimming. He also enjoyed judging fruit and vegetables at numerous county fairs, the Yorktown Grange and the Danbury Fair.

He is survived by three sons, Peter Androsko, Walter Androsko, Michael Androsko, all of Yorktown; one granddaughter, Hope Androsko, also of Yorktown; two sisters, Stella Rakas and Jennie Morrone of Glastonbury, Connecticut; one niece; and one nephew.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown. A private service was held at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown.

A memorial service will be held at Yorktown Grange Hall at 99 Moseman Avenue in Yorktown on August 25 at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Yorktown Grange, P. O. Box 254, Yorktown Heights, New York 10598 or New York State 4H Foundation, Cornell University, 265 Roberts Hall, Ithaca, New York 14853. Donations to be used for Leadership Training for Westchester Youth.
