The Westchester County and Putnam County Boards of Supervisors approved the formation of the Mohegan Lake Fire District. A bill, dated February 7, 1934, was presented to and passed by, the State Assembly and Senate. However, it needed more work before the Governor would sign it. After meeting the necessary requirements, the Joint District was approved and legalized on May 12, 1934.
