Recommendation of Arthur McKeel 


In the mid 19th century, approval was required from 2 towns to hire a teacher for a district. The text of this note reads:

"I hereby certify that I have examined Arthur McKeel and do believe that he is well qualified in respect to moral character learning and ability to instruct @ common school in this town for one year from the date hereof.
Given under my hand at Yorktown this 8th day of 5th mo 1847
